Promoting Social Inclusion Through National Traditions

Das ERASMUS+ Projekt Promoting Social Inclusion Through National Traditions von Pamoja Afrika e.V. Köln steht ganz unter dem Motto der EU „United in Diversity“ (dt. geeint in Vielfalt). Das zweijährige Projekt befasst sich kritisch mit dem Konzept der nationalen und der europäischen Identität anhand der Begegnung und des Zusammenschlusses von Traditionen. Das Wissen um Traditionen gibt uns ein Gefühl von Zugehörigkeit. Doch wer formt diese Traditionen und wie können wir sie nutzen, um uns gegenseitig näher zu kommen und niemanden auszuschließen? Das Projekt setzt sich mit dem Thema Traditionen und Identitäten am Bespiel von Volkstänzen auseinander.

Um die Vielfalt landestypischer Traditionen und Künste in das Projekt einzubeziehen, fanden transnationale Treffen mit Partnerorganisationen in Frankreich, Portugal, der Türkei und Deutschland statt, bei denen neben Tänzen auch andere Traditionen der Gastländer durch die Vertreter:innen präsentiert und an die Teilnehmenden vermittelt wurden.

Zum Ende des Projekts sind die Partnerorganisationen vom 06.-11.06.2022 für eine Woche in Köln zu Gast und werden in einem kontrastreichen Programm neben der Besichtigung des Kölner Doms, einer Rheintour, und der Unterweisung in Tanztraditionen des Kölner Karnevals auch die Ausstellung „I MISS YOU - Über das Vermissen, Zurückgeben und Erinnern“ des Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museums kennenlernen. Als Höhepunkt des Wochenprogramms wird beim diversCITY-Tag am 11.06.2022 auf dem Kölner Ebertplatz durch eine Tanz-Präsentation das Abschlussergebnis des gemeinsamen Projekts mit den Kooperationspartner:innen aus Frankreich, Portugal und der Türkei der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt.

The ERASMUS+ project Promoting Social Inclusion Through National Traditions by Pamoja Afrika e.V. Cologne is fully in line with the EU motto "United in Diversity". The two-year project critically examines the concept of national and European identity through the encounter and fusion of traditions. Knowledge of traditions gives us a sense of belonging. But who shapes these traditions and how can we use them to get closer to each other and not exclude anyone? The project deals with the topic of traditions and identities using folk dances as an example.

In order to include the diversity of country-specific traditions and arts in the project, transnational meetings were held with partner organisations in France, Portugal, Turkey and Germany, where, in addition to dances, other traditions of the host countries were presented by the representatives and communicated to the participants.

At the end of the project, the partner organisations will be guests in Cologne for a week from 6^th till 11^th June 2022. In a programme full of contrasts, they will in addition to a visit to Cologne Cathedral, a tour of the Rhine and instruction in dance traditions of the Cologne Carnival get to know the exhibition "I MISS YOU - About Missing, Giving Back and Remembering" of the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum. As a highlight of the weekly programme, the final result of the joint project with the cooperation partners from France, Portugal and Turkey will be presented to the public at the diversCITY Day on 11^th June 2022 at Cologne’s Ebertplatz
